Physical Activity




Children are active in the playground during small break from 10.45am-11.00am and during lunch break from 12.30pm-1:00 pm
- Playground Leaders
The members of the Active School Committee have taken on the role of playground leaders. They plan and set up a variety of games for classes to play in the yard to encourage activity.



- Active Breaks in the Classroom
Each teacher encourages active breaks between lessons to reduce sedentary time. These active breaks include Bizzy Breaks, Go Noodle, Active Songs on Danny Go and Cosmic Kids.
- Relays Takeover
The whole school community took part in the Relays Takeover challenge that began on September 27th. Each class took part in a variety of relays using a number of pieces of equipment, finishing with a teachers versus students relay in the yard!
- Active Breaks Challenge
This year our school took part in the Active Flag Active Breaks Challenge from November 18th to December 13th. The children and staff took regular movement breaks between lessons and recorded completion of their movement breaks on the participation record chart.
- Active Homework
Children in classes Junior Infants to 6th class are assigned active homework every Wednesday. This is to encourage more activity at home and also to encourage a positive and fun disposition towards being active.
